Star Wars Families
The Star Wars Families project will serve as an homage to fans and a record of this unforgettable moment as the Skywalker saga draws to a close. Ten international photographers will be engaged to create an editorial-style series of images which, together with the British Journal of Photographys journalists exploration of each familys story, will form a narrative around the family portrait. Assisted by a behind-the-scenes videographer, each selected photographer will be given the opportunity to create images that record the intimate relationships specific to each family unit.(...)

Photographing the Microscopic: Winners of Nikon Small World 2019
Alan Taylor - Nikon has announced the winners of the 2019 Small World Photomicrography Competition, and has once more shared some of the winning and honored images with us. The contest invites photographers and scientists to submit images of all things visible under a microscope. This year, first place was awarded to Teresa Zgoda and Teresa Kugler for their painstakingly prepared photo of a turtle embryo, using fluorescence and stereo microscopy. More than 2,000 entries were received from 100 countries in 2019, the 45th year of the competition.

Startled Marmot and a Fox Lead the Way at Wildlife Photography Awards
Titled "The Moment," the picture shows a Tibetan fox about to pounce on an almost comically startled-looking marmot. The image earned the Chinese photographer Yongqing Bao the wildlife photographer of the year award at the Natural History Museum in London. Following the launch of the Leica Women Foto Project earlier this year - a platform dedicated to the expansion of diversity and inclusion in photography - Leica Camera USA is proud to announce the three recipients of the inaugural Leica Women Foto Project Award. From over 600 submissions across the United States, photographers Debi Cornwall, Yana Paskova and Eva Woolridge were selected by a prestigious panel of judges in the photography, art and entertainment industries to each receive $10,000 and a Leica Q2 to pursue a personal project that tells a story through the female viewpoint.(...)
